Of course, there were many, many gems unearthed along the way, so I’m glad I went through this phase, because when progressive rock is at its best, there is no more artistically or emotionally satisfying brand of rock and roll, what with the willingness to push boundaries and experiment that you just don’t find in other rock genres.
I’m sort of in recovery from that, having overdosed on hundreds of records for several years then realizing that while it was an interesting journey, some prog is obscure because it’s not that good. I mentioned in a previous post my time as a raging international prog-head. But here’s something I can get passionate about. I had a bit of a layoff there… posting a couple of times a week all year sure takes the stuffing out of a fella, what with real life to be lived.
